Meet the Designer of Elnatan Jewelry Design
Lia resides and creates in Jaffa, Tel Aviv. She is a mixture of classy, elegant and tomboy with an easygoing, open-minded creative personality. Personally inspired by legends such as Michale Jackson and Madonna, Lia describes her design aethetic to be a "Digital hipster's contemporary approach to classy jewelry." TCBJ: Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
Lia: Was born in the former soviet union, grew up in a small town near Jerusalem.
Now create and live in Jaffa, which is the old historic part of Tel Aviv.
TCBJ: What three items would you never leave home without?
Lia: My phone, lipstick, and earrings!
TCBJ: Describe yourself using 4 words.
Lia: Happy, easygoing, curious, open-minded.
TCBJ: How do you define your personal style?
Lia: Classy, elegant, mixed with tomboy.
TCBJ: What are you inspired by, or what motivates you?
Lia: My inspiration derives from the architecture around me, interesting people I meet, and childhood games.
TCBJ: Which people do you admire, or who inspires you? (Still alive or not)
Lia: The first on my list will be definitely the king of pop- Michael Jackson, his style, videos, dancing moves, are soo much inspiration to me. Then Oprah, for her achievements. Madonna, for becoming and staying who she is from ashes! Yousafzai Malala, fighting for the female right to education! My mom, for moving to a foreign country with 2 infants and being strong, working hard and giving us the opportunity to succeed in what we choose!
TCBJ: Where does your personal inspiration come from?
Lia: I’m a visual person, so either by biking and taking photos, architecture, things that remind me of my childhood.
TCBJ: How would you describe your jewelry design aesthetic or design process?
Lia: My design process always starts with photos I take of places and things, then sketches, then I play with the material. Digital, hipster, contemporary approach on classy jewelry.
TCBJ: How did you get into your designing jewelry?
Lia: It’s all started at the age of 10 when I met a fashion designer. From the next morning, I announced to anyone willing to hear, that I’m gonna be a fashion designer. :)
While I grew up and learned everything to do with the fashion industry, started to create jewelry, at first for myself then friends etc… ended up applying for jewelry department on the 3rd time I was trying to apply to fashion design. So basically, I’m creating jewelry since I was 15 or so…
TCBJ: What new ventures/events/plans are you looking forward to for the rest of this year?
Lia: Looking forward to the biggest Jewelry fair in Europe, called Sieraad, 170 designers gather in one place in Amsterdam, and I’m super excited!
TCBJ: Where do you see yourself and/or your career in the next 5 years?
Lia: Participating in more fairs in the states, collaborating with a jewelry brand.
TCBJ: What is your favorite quote or what is a statement/mantra you try to live by?
